Hal is a very interesting combination of bloodlines, mixing blue blood dressage with Olympic showjumping bloodlines. He is a very long legged but short coupled and well put together colt, born 29.4.16, who really could excel in any or all spheres individually but both bloodlines and attributes would indicate strong eventing potential. His temperament is also delightful as he is neither bargy nor shy and has taken every new experience so far completely in his stride. His sire is homozygous black and his dam is grey, Hal was born jet black but is showing some grey flecks and I would imagine may eventually grey out.
Hal’s sire Vince brings the highly sought after dressage blood of Gribaldi (also sire to stallions such as Painted Black and Moorland Totilas amongst others). Gribaldi consistently and reliably produces very trainable and expressive offspring for dressage and Vince himself had many successes as a young horse, qualifying for the National BD Young Horse Championships where he gained impressive scores of 9 for walk and high 8’s for his trot and his canter. Judges described him as a very athletic loose moving horse, with 3 excellent gaits and much presence. Vince is sire to a HOYS winner, numerous Showing & Sports Horse Champions, as well as showjumpers and dressage horses.
This very trainable dressage line has been combined with a damline that brings the jumping scope and movement of Cloud Nine who is by the Sydney Olympic Gold Medalist Lando and who competed in his own right very successfully, internationally in 1m60 Grand Prix’s with Ben Maher. Cloud Nine is very much the new ultra-modern athlete, descending from the great thoroughbred’s Cottage Son and Lady Killer, with sufficient blood to breed show jumpers, dressage horses and eventers. Although Nimbus is bred in the purple to jump she oozes quality with a fantastic movement for pure dressage which complements her undeniable jumping talent. Her super paces are very fluid, cover the ground and are borne from a fantastic hind leg and natural elevation.
This colt is sure to do well in either a competitive or amateur home.
